BE PART OF THE STORY

YOUR STORY COULD INSPIRE SOMEONE TO BEGIN.

There are many ways to be part of MOVE & TRY. Share what you've experienced, pass on what you know, or help someone find a place to try something new.

FIND YOUR WAY TO CONTRIBUTE

HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO TAKE PART?

Choose what feels right for you. Open a section, see what we're looking for and send us your materials. You don't need writing experience — your perspective is what matters.

01 SHARE YOUR EXPERIENCE Tried something new? Tell us what it was really like.

Your story, in your own words.

First attempts don't have to be perfect. We want to hear about real experiences, surprises, challenges and everything you learned along the way.

What could you write about?

  1. What did you decide to try?
  2. Why did you choose this particular activity?
  3. Did you have any fears, expectations or assumptions?
  4. What was your first attempt like?
  5. What surprised you, made you laugh or challenged you?
  6. What did you learn about the activity or yourself?
  7. Would you try it again?
  8. What would you say to someone thinking about trying it?

Text: approximately 350–700 words.

Photos: 2–5 authentic photos, if you have them.

Byline: the name you'd like us to publish and a short introduction, if you wish.

You don't have to answer every question in order. Tell your story your way, and we'll help shape it into a MOVE & TRY feature.

SHARE YOUR EXPERIENCE
02 WRITE A GUIDE Know an activity well? Help someone take their first step.

Help beginners know what to expect.

MOVE & TRY guides make activities easier to understand, with practical advice and approachable explanations. We're not looking for advertising — we're looking for useful insight from people who know what they're talking about.

What would we love to know?

  1. What is this activity, and how would you explain it to a beginner?
  2. Who is it for? Are there any age or other restrictions?
  3. What can someone expect on their first visit or attempt?
  4. Do they need previous experience, equipment or preparation?
  5. What are the most common misconceptions or beginner fears?
  6. What benefits can the activity offer?
  7. What advice would you give someone who's still unsure?
  8. Are there any important safety considerations?

Text: approximately 500–900 words. Bullet-point answers are welcome.

Photos: 3–5 quality photos of the activity.

Author: your name, professional title or role, short bio and an optional link.

We'll use your answers to prepare a MOVE & TRY guide and send it to you for review before publication.

03 SHARE YOUR EXPERTISE Behind every activity are people, knowledge and experience.

We'd love to meet the person behind the work.

Tell us about your journey, your knowledge, your experience and how you work with people. An expert feature isn't a traditional advertisement — it's a chance for readers to discover the person and perspective behind an activity.

Introduce yourself through these questions.

  1. What's your name, and what do you do?
  2. How did your journey with this activity begin?
  3. What qualifications, training or relevant experience do you have?
  4. What motivates you most when working with people?
  5. How do you approach beginners?
  6. What do you wish people knew before trying this activity?
  7. Is there a memorable moment from your work you'd like to share?
  8. What would you say to someone ready to take their first step?

Text: approximately 400–700 words.

Photos: 3–5 photos, including a portrait and images of your work.

Details: your name, professional title, field of work and professional link.

We'll send you the edited feature before publication so you can check the facts and make sure it represents your work accurately.

We want contributing to be simple, and every published feature to be useful, authentic and thoughtfully prepared. Here's how we work with your materials.

01 / MATERIALS

Rights to publish

Please only submit text and images you have the right to authorise for publication on MOVE & TRY. Appropriate permissions are needed for identifiable people, especially children.
