THE JOURNAL · MOVE & TRY
Every story
has its worth.
Sometimes, someone else's experience inspires us
to try something new.
Sometimes, a different perspective helps us
understand something better.
And sometimes, all it takes is reading a story
in which we recognise ourselves.
If you have something worth sharing,
The Journal might be the right place
for your story.
01 · ABOUT THE JOURNAL
A space for stories that stay with us.
The Journal is MOVE & TRY's editorial space dedicated to people, experiences, ideas and different ways of seeing the world.
We're interested in real stories. Stories that make us think, open up new conversations, introduce us to something unfamiliar or simply show us how someone else experiences the world.
We're not looking for perfect life stories or extraordinary achievements. We're equally interested in attempts, mistakes, changes, unusual experiences, small decisions and the things we learn along the way.
You don't have to be a professional writer to have something worth saying.
02 · TOPICS & STORIES
What can you write about?
The Journal isn't limited to the activities featured on MOVE & TRY. We love curiosity, new experiences, personal perspectives and subjects worth exploring.
We're particularly interested in:
Personal stories
Experiences, decisions, turning points, attempts, discoveries and anything that has changed you or taught you something along the way.
Different perspectives
Your thoughts on subjects that matter to you, questions you've been asking yourself and perspectives that might spark a different kind of conversation.
People & ideas
Interesting projects, initiatives, professions, hobbies or people whose stories and knowledge deserve to be shared.
New experiences
Something you tried, learned, explored or experienced for the first time. What did you expect? What surprised you? And what did you take away from it?
Have an idea that doesn't quite fit any of these categories? We'd still love to hear about it. A good story matters more to us than fitting into a predefined category.
03 · EDITORIAL GUIDELINES
What matters to us?
We want The Journal to be a place readers return to for its quality, honesty and interesting perspectives.
That's why we follow a few simple editorial principles.
Authenticity over perfection
Write in your own voice. You don't need to sound like a journalist or an expert if you're not one. We're interested in real experiences and honest reflections.
Substance over promotion
The Journal isn't a space for disguised advertising or promotional articles. You're welcome to introduce your own project, work or initiative, but the story should offer something valuable to readers, not just to its author.
Respect for different perspectives
We don't all have to agree. Different opinions can lead to meaningful conversations, but we expect thoughtful arguments, courtesy and respect for others.
Accuracy and responsibility
Personal experiences should be presented as personal experiences, while facts and expert claims should be verifiable. If you use someone else's materials, photographs or quotations, you must have the appropriate permission and credit the source.
Editorial selection
Every submission is reviewed from an editorial perspective. We reserve the right to select topics, edit texts in consultation with the author and make the final decision about publication. Submitting a story does not guarantee publication.
04 · HOW TO CONTRIBUTE
How can you share your story?
You don't need to have a finished article. You're welcome to reach out with just an idea. If we see potential in your topic, we can work together to find the best way to tell the story.
-
01
Tell us about your idea
Briefly explain what you'd like to write about, why the topic matters to you and what you'd like to share with readers. If you already have a finished piece, feel free to send it.
-
02
Introduce yourself
A few sentences are enough. Who are you, what do you do and how are you connected to the subject you'd like to write about? You can also suggest how you'd like to be credited.
-
03
Send us an email
Send your idea or article to journal@moveandtry.com. You're welcome to suggest photographs or additional materials, but they're not necessary for the first contact.
-
04
Let's discuss the next step
If your proposal fits The Journal's editorial direction, we'll get in touch to discuss the content, any possible revisions and how best to present your story.
05 · AUTHORSHIP & PUBLICATION
Your story. Your voice.
Guest stories are published with clear author attribution, as agreed with the contributor. We want readers to know whose perspective they're reading and who is behind each piece.
Sometimes, the best way to collaborate is through a guest article. Other times, an interview or an editorial story based on a conversation might be a better fit. We'll decide together, depending on the topic and how best to present it.
Before publication, we agree on the final version of the text, author attribution and the use of any accompanying photographs.
Please note: submitting a proposal does not automatically transfer your copyright to MOVE & TRY or grant permission for publication. Any publication and use of materials will be agreed upon separately. Published texts must be original or used with the appropriate rights and permissions.
YOUR STORY COULD BE NEXT
Have something worth sharing?
You don't need the perfect headline,
a finished article or all the answers.
Sometimes, a good idea
is all it takes to begin.
We'd love to hear yours.
